This time the presentation is official, at a qualified venue, with institutional interlocutors:
Terminal Geochem of Seasif group exhibited at the General Confederation of Italian Industry
of Foggia, the president Ivano Chierici, at the general union trade secretaries and the
delegates of Cgil (Italian General Confederation of Labor) Maurizio Carmeno, of Cisl (Italian
Confederation of Trade Unions) Mohammed Elmajdi and of Uil (Italian Labor Union) Luca
Maggio, the industrial settlement project that will be developed in the ASI area of Manferdonia and Monte Sant'Angelo.
"It was a very positive meeting that served to highlight the importance of the industrial
project of SEASIF Group, also in the light of the upcoming availability of the Conveyor Belts
Group of the industrial port of Manfredonia. The program includes interventions in
manufacturing and in the energy field. The meeting also served to resume the traditional
collaboration with the Trade Union Organizations which confirms the mutual conviction of
the cultural development marked by the constant synergy of social forces”, the opinion of
Ivano Chierici, president of General Confederation of Italian Industry of Foggia who last
December gave an update on the process for carrying out the project. Judgment shared by the
trade union organizations who appreciated their involvement in a concerted process of great
importance for the economy of the Northern part of Puglia and positively evaluated "the
potentials of territorial and port development of Manfredonia by the investment, reserving the
right to communicate the definitive opinion, after the necessary in-depth study of the
documentation that will be carried out in the next few days ".
The Seasif project, as it is generally known, was announced from February 2021 and seems
to have reached the starting point. The General Confederation of Italian Industry of Foggia
and the trade unions still maintain confidentiality on the details of the initiative that will be
developed in the Zes areas - Special Economic Zones which, as known, favor industrial
settlements with important tax advantages and accelerated administrative procedures, the so-
called "Single Concession" given by the Government Commissioner to the Adriatic ZES.
A fundamental part of the project is the use of the deep-water port, known as the industrial
port and in particular the conveyor belt system. It was precisely that installation that attracted
the attention and interest of the multinational Seasif. Naturally it will have to be almost
completely renovated: since it was built in the late 1970s, it was never used, much less tested.
Those belts should have been used by the central Enel which project was never accomplished
due to technical difficulties, and not by Enichem which used the port extensively. Those belts
have been considered absurd by the national news for a matter of bribes and for the long-
standing dispute with the manufacturing company which blocked any intervention on that
installation which in the meantime had become unusable at that point that the Port System
Authority of the southern Adriatic Sea had ordered the abatement.
The interest of Seasif and the intervention of the Asi of Foggia blocked the destruction of that
installation which is now preparing to support an industrial initiative that aims to give a boost
to the economy and employment not only in the city.
